An Interview with Roger

The next staffer we targeted in our series of interviews is none other than Roger, the local Community Manager for Twin Skies! We get to know what he does at Meteor Games, what kinds of games he's played before, and his opinion on how the Twin Skies community is building up already. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a good read! (And beware the image to the right!!! That would be Roger in his Zombie Boy Scout costume. :O)

TSH: Hiya Roger, thanks for agreeing to the interview! :D

Roger: No problemo. I'm sure they're gonna dock my pay for this, but I'm happy to help out a Twin Skies fan site!

What is your official job title at Meteor Games? How long ago did you start working there?

Officially, I am the Community Manager and I've been here 2 weeks now. Unofficially, I am in charge of Meteor Cam Abuse and eating cake until I'm ready to vomit whenever they happen to bring some in for an office birthday party.

As Community Manager, what do you do in your day to day duties?

I'm currently overseeing the Twin Skies forums, making sure they're running smoothly, answering any questions people have about the site, reporting bugs. I'm also going to be setting up contests that our forum regulars can participate in. And, last but not least, I'll be helping get the word out about Twin Skies by promoting the game (and the mini-games) around the web.

When will the contests and competitions you mention get started? ;) What kinds are planned?

We're hoping to launch some contests in the coming weeks. As for what kinds are planned, well... that would ruin the surprise now wouldn't it?

What would you say is the best part about the community that has formed around Twin Skies, which hasn't even been released yet?

Actually, you just said it right there. It's already becoming a really active community, and considering there hasn't been a ton of information revealed about the game yet, that's pretty impressive. I can't wait to see how busy it gets after the game is actually released! Another nice thing is that I've had to do relatively little moderation because everybody seems to be treating each other nicely. There's very little arguing & bickering taking place, so that's definitely a plus too.

Has any sort of game alpha testing begun among the staff yet for Twin Skies?

There's always some kind of testing going on with the staff members... making sure a texture on a rock formation is looking right, testing Twin Skies account logins, testing our refrigerator to see just how much caffeine it can be stocked with in a single day... the list goes on and on.

Were you one of the lucky Super Dudes who won a ticket to PAX? (If so, who are you dressing up as? If not... who are the others dressing up as?)

Heheh, I think the PAX stuff was decided on before I started, so I'll have to save any costumes for Halloween instead. As for the others, Donna is dressing up as a Priest and Tom is dressing up as a Corsair.

Can you reveal any of the goodies planned for PAX?

Well, other than a demo of Twin Skies, I'm sure by now you've already heard that we'll be giving out Salabounder plushies at PAX, right? That's really all I can say at the moment.

Have you ever participated in one of the office Nerf wars?

Not yet, but I was given an Airzooka the first day I arrived at my new desk. It's nice, but if you ask me, Nerf > Air, so I need to up the ante. Perhaps I'll bring in a water gun loaded with Tabasco sauce.

What sorts of other online games have you played before? Have you ever played Neopets? ;)

I'm a huge fan of Blizzard's "Diablo" and "Starcraft" series, so I definitely played those a lot in the past and can't wait for the upcoming sequels (and I plan on attending BlizzCon). I also played an old online game called "Subspace" (which was later renamed to "Continuum") for more hours than I care to admit. The best way I can describe it is like Asteroids in huge, custom arenas with a variety of ships to choose from, each of which have unique weapon sets. Highly addictive game. As for Neopets, I've seen it plenty, but I've never played... it never really appealed to my age bracket heheh.

I noticed that you are a fan of Halloween... what do you like about it? (And I will admit... my favorite Halloween pastime is dressing up as a scarecrow and laying in wait on our front porch with a bowl of candy in my lap and making sure not to move a muscle until an unsuspecting trick-o-treater starts reaching into the bowl...)

Well, other than it being a great excuse to just dress up in a crazy costume, you just can't go wrong with getting free candy. I'm also a huge horror movie fan, so I love all the classic horror flicks that come on TV (and into theaters) around that time of the year.

Any last words for our readers?

Thanks for all the support for our game! I know I speak for the entire Twin Skies team when I say that it's the nonstop enthusiasm of all the fans that keeps us working long hours here so that the game exceeds all of your expectations! Hope some of you guys can come out and see Twin Skies at PAX! If not, you can always register on our forums and join in the fun. See ya there!
